Jaroslav SLAVICKÝ

( b. 1948 ) having finished his studies at the dance section of the Conservatory in Prague, he was conferred the national scholarship for the studies at the Vaganova´s Istitute in Lenigrad ( pedagogues Pushkin, Bregvadze ).
1968 - 1969: a member of Ballet Ensemble of the National Theatre in Prague
1969 - 1970: premiére danseur of the Theatre Municipal Strassbourg ( Jean Garcia )
1970 - 1972: a soloist of the Stadttheater Basel ( Pavel Šmok )
Since 1972: a soloist of the National Theatre Ballet in Prague, since 1975 - the Principal dancer.
He created about 80 roles and solo impositions on the stage of the National Theatre           ( Prince - Swan Lake ; Albert - Giselle; Romeo, Mercutio, Prince - Sleeping Beauty; a lot of roles from the contemporary repertoire etc.
He has tought classical dance and repertoire of classical dance at the Dance Conservatory Prague since 1972. In 1987 he finished his studies at the Academy of Music Arts the branch of dance pedagogy - and obtained a title Magister ( B.A.).
He appeared on tours both with the National Theatre Ballet Ensemble and by himself in many European countries,  in Cuba and Canada.
In 1987 - 1996 he thought at the Academy of Music Arts in Prague, since 1989 he acted as a pedagogue and master of ballet in the National Theatre in Prague.
Since 1996 he has been a director of the Dance Conservatory Prague.

His pedagogical places of work include: Canada ( Labrador and Newfounland Ballet Institut)  France (Grand Theatre Bordeaux - Bortoluzzi),Opera Nurnberg, Edinburgh, USA ( Blomington ), Palucca Schule Dresden, Theatre Municipal Rio de Janeiro etc.

            As a jury chairman of the National Ballet Contest in the C.R. he acted in 1991, 1993, 1995, 1997, 1999.He was also a member of international juries : 1998 - Varna; 2000 - 2007 Prix Carpeaux in France. For the Dance Conservatory Prague, he has created the performance of the ballet " Nutcracker " ( 82 performances ); " Nutcracker " was presented also at the theatres of other cities ( Liberec, Ústí nad Labem and at the National Theatre Ostrava - a new version - 2001.He staged "Don Quijote" at the National Theatre Brno ( 1996 )  " Sleeping Beauty " at the Municipal Theatre Rio de Janeiro ( 1998 ), for the Dance Conservatory  "Polovtsian Dances "  ( assumed into the repertoire of the National Theatre Prague ) . In April 2003 he will stage " La Bayadere " at the National Theatre Brno, in 2004 "Don Quijote" at the Bädischesstaatstheter Karlsruhe, in 2005 "Sleeping Beauty" at the Municipal Theatre Rio de Janeiro end at Theatre National Prague olso, in 2008 "Raymonda" at the National Theatre Brno.

            Among his pupils belong e.g. Jiří Bubeníček and Otto Bubeníček ( the Principal dancers of John Neumeier´s Ballet in Hamburg end Semper Oper Dresden ), Václav Kuneš NDT 1 ( Jiří Kilián ), Jiří Jelínek ( Principal dancer of Stuttgard Ballet ), Lukáš Slavický ( the Principal dancer of the Bavarian State Ballet in Munich a Laureate  Prix Benois de la Danse 2003).
