RUDOLF NUREYEV on the occassion of the 20th Anniversary of Nureyev's COMPETITION 2012 The 6th RUDOLF NUREYEV INTERNATIONAL BALLET COMPETITION (RNIBC) to be organized in Budapest, February 28 - March 5, 2012. The Competition will be held in honour of RUDOLF NUREYEV, one of the greatest ballet dancers of the 20th century, in order to promote the artistic development of the young dancers of today and tomorrow by challenging them to perform passages selected from classical productions (including Nureyev's versions). The three-round Competition will be judged by a jury of international experts. RULES AND REQUIREMENTS The Competition is open to all professional male and female dancers of all nationalities in categories solo or pas de deux (pdd). In the RNIBC is NO age-limit strictly, but we do recommending about between 15 and 27 years old (no junior and senior categories), but of course all applications will be considered. Dancers accepted to the Competition will be notified in due time for their visa application (where necessary). The participation fee - USD 150 non-refundable - is to be paid in cash on registration. Participants should provide their own insurance policies covering health, accident and all other material and immaterial damages for the duration of their stay. The Management provides:

REPERTORY FIRST ROUND one pdd (for couples) or two different variations (for soloists) from among the following stylewise classical choreographies: La Bayadère, Le Corsaire, Don Quixote, Giselle, Grand pas Classique (Gsovsky), The Nutcracker, The Sleeping Beauty, Swan Lake, La Sylphide (Bournonville or Lacotte version), The Flames of Paris, Coppelia, Esmeralda, Paquita, La Fille mal Gardée (Petipa or Ashton or Spoerli version), Flower Festival of Genzano (or any other Bournonville), Les Sylphides (Chopiniana), Raymonda, and any other rarely seen or "less-known" Petipa choreographies - or from the version of the above by later arrangements. SECOND ROUND one pdd/duet (for couples) or two variations (for soloists) from any major twentieth-century or/and most up to date choreographer's works from Fokine to Forsythe which are stylistically based on classical techniques: Ashton, Balanchine, Cranko, Fokine, Massine, Milloss, Lifar, Lichine (Graduation Ball only), MacMillan, Dollar (The Duel pdd only), Tudor, Béjart, Petit, Robbins, Neumeier, Forsythe, Spoerli or other internationally known choreographers (see: Grigorovich, Yakobson, Vainonen, Harangozó, Seregi, Kylian etc.). We recommend the use of "Romeo and Julia" pdd or variations (Prokofiev, Tchaikovsky, Berlioz) in this Round. Or you may bring any contemporary choreography too. THIRD (Final) ROUND one pdd (for couples) or two variations (for soloists) stylewise classical choreographies, but different from those in the First Round. SPECIAL exception is given to dancers under age of 18 years old where they can repeat and choose one variation from the First Round and one variation from the Second Round, or one pdd of his/her former pdd. Any choreography by Rudolf Nureyev is welcomed. Attention: The Management of the Competition does not take any legal responsibilities from misuse of copyright, therefore where applicable, the competitor must obtain written permission (see: Balanchine Trust, Fokine Trust and other legal applications). SCHEDULE Candidates have to arrive in Budapest not later than 12am on February 28, 2012. All participants - whether competing or non-competing partner - has to check at the registration desk where general information about the program will be provided. JUDGING AND PRIZES The competitors will be judged individually according to their performance in the variations and/or pdd. The decisions of the jury are final and cannot be appealed.

There will be other Special Prizes Diploma for all Finalists TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS All competitors are required to supply their own costumes and provide their own make-up, shoes, rehearsal costumes, etc. If a partner is eliminated, he/she obliged continue to appear as a partner in the Finals and the Prize Giving Gala. All competitors must provide their own pre-recorded professional CDs or mini disks for all Rounds respectively and submit them to the Management at the registration. Two CDs or two mini discs are required for each competitor. Each disc should contain only one piece (one variation or one entire pas de deux). Competitors are responsible for all recordings submitted of performance quality. Clearly indicate on the cover of CDs or mini discs, the competitor's name (and competing number), title and duration of the piece. A separate CD is required for rehearsal too. Non-observance of the above can lead to disqualification. LEGAL ACPECTS By taking part in the RNIBC all competitors and non-competing partners waive all performance rights and agree that no fee or royalty will be due to them for their participation in the Competition and the use thereof in any way whatsoever by RNIBC. The sole producer of the RNIBC which shall have the sole and exclusive rights license and privilege to record, broadcast, distribute, market and otherwise exploit the Competitions and the participation therein of all materials become the property of the RNIBC.
